1. Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to MakeMyTale. These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a legally binding agreement between you (and, where applicable, the parent or guardian acting on behalf of a child) and Kostiantyn Kiianytsia ("we", "us", or "our"), the developer of the MakeMyTale iOS application and the website at makemytale.com (collectively, the "Service").
By downloading, installing, or using MakeMyTale — including accessing the Service through Apple's App Store — you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility & Age Requirements
Adults and teens 13+You may create a MakeMyTale account if you are at least 13 years old (or the applicable minimum digital consent age in your country). By registering, you represent that you meet this requirement.
Children under 13 (COPPA)MakeMyTale is designed to be used by children under the supervision of a parent or guardian. In compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and equivalent international regulations, we require verifiable parental consent before a child under 13 (US) or under 16 (EU) may use the Service.
- The parent or guardian must create the account, provide their own email address, and accept these Terms on behalf of the child.
- The parent or guardian is fully responsible for supervising the child's use of the Service and for all activity that occurs under the account.
- By creating an account for a child, you confirm that you are the child's parent or legal guardian and that you consent to these Terms on the child's behalf.
Purchasing coins or subscriptions requires the user to be of the age required to enter into a binding contract in their jurisdiction. In-app purchases are made through Apple's App Store; Apple's standard age verification controls apply. We apply an additional age verification step within the app before any purchase is initiated.
3. Account Registration & Security
RegistrationYou may register using an email address and password, or by signing in with your Google account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information at registration and to keep that information up to date.
Parent and child profilesRegistration collects a parent/guardian display name and a child's first name and age. These are stored and used as described in our Privacy Policy.
Account security- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- If you suspect unauthorised access, contact us immediately at support@makemytale.com.
You may not create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions, abuse the referral program, or obtain additional free coins. We reserve the right to merge or terminate duplicate accounts.
4. The Service
MakeMyTale provides an AI-powered interactive storytelling experience for children. The Service includes:
- Story generation — AI-generated personalised stories based on character, theme, moral lesson, and language selections.
- Story continuation and chapters — extending stories with additional chapters.
- Illustrations — AI-generated images for each story page, produced using Stability AI's Stable Diffusion XL model.
- Narration — text-to-speech audio narration of stories using Google Cloud TTS (Chirp 3 HD voice).
- Favourites — saving and revisiting generated stories.
- Multi-language support — story generation in English, Spanish, French, German, Polish, and Ukrainian.
We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or reasons beyond our control. We are not liable for any losses arising from unavailability.
Service changesWe may add, modify, or discontinue features at any time. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification or updated Terms.
5. Virtual Currency (Coins)
What coins areCoins are a virtual in-app currency used to generate stories and chapters. Coins have no monetary value, cannot be withdrawn, transferred, or exchanged for cash, and are not redeemable outside of MakeMyTale.
How coins are earned- Purchased through the in-app Coin Store (see Section 7).
- Awarded when you refer a new user with a valid referral code (see Section 8).
- Awarded to new users who sign up with a valid referral code.
- Awarded as milestone bonuses in the referral program.

Active Dreamland subscription holders (see Section 6) are not charged coins for story or chapter generation. Coin balances are preserved and can be used if the subscription lapses.

Prices may vary by region in accordance with App Store local pricing. All purchases are final — see Section 7 for the refund policy.
Coin expiryCoins do not expire while your account is active. If your account is deleted or terminated, all remaining coins are forfeited without compensation.
6. Subscriptions

Current pricing is displayed in the App Store and in the MakeMyTale Store screen. Prices may vary by region.
Apple-ID scopeSubscriptions are tied to your Apple ID. All MakeMyTale accounts on a device signed in to the same Apple ID benefit from an active subscription. You are responsible for managing which devices are signed in to your Apple ID.
Auto-renewalYour subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price. You will not receive a separate renewal notice from us — Apple sends renewal receipts to the email address associated with your Apple ID.
Plan upgrades and downgrades- Monthly → Annual (upgrade): The annual subscription begins immediately; any remaining monthly period is credited proportionally by Apple.
- Annual → Monthly (downgrade): The monthly plan begins at the next renewal date after the annual subscription expires.
To cancel your subscription:
- Open Settings → [your Apple ID] → Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad, or
- Visit Apple Subscriptions.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain unlimited access until that date. We cannot process subscription cancellations directly — all cancellations go through Apple.
Subscription refundsSubscription purchases are processed by Apple. To request a refund for a subscription, visit reportaproblem.apple.com. Refunds are at Apple's discretion and subject to Apple's refund policy.
Price changesWe may change subscription prices. Apple is required to notify you of price increases before your next renewal. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new price.
7. In-App Purchases & Refunds
Payment processorAll in-app purchases (coin packages and subscriptions) are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive, process, or store your payment card or billing information. Purchases are governed by Apple's App Store Terms of Service.
No refunds from us directlyBecause purchases are processed by Apple, we cannot issue refunds directly. To request a refund:
- Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, or
- Contact Apple Support at support.apple.com.
Refunds are subject to Apple's refund policy and applicable law. Refunds may not be available for consumable coin purchases where the coins have been used.
Consumer rightsNothing in these Terms affects your statutory consumer rights, including rights under EU consumer protection law, UK consumer rights law, or any other applicable mandatory local law.
TaxesApplicable taxes (VAT, GST, sales tax) are collected by Apple at the time of purchase in accordance with local law.
8. Referral Program
How it worksRegistered users receive a unique referral code in the format TALE-XXXXXX. When a new user creates an account using your code, both parties receive a coin reward.

- Referral codes may only be used by genuinely new users — a person who has not previously held a MakeMyTale account.
- Your account must be at least 1 hour old before you can refer others.
- A minimum of 24 hours must pass between referral uses from the same device.
- Each referral code has a maximum usage cap (currently 1,000 uses).
- You may not apply your own referral code to your own account or to accounts you control.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the referral program at any time. Changes will be reflected in updated Terms. Accrued coin balances will not be affected by program changes unless the account is terminated for abuse.
9. AI-Generated Content
Nature of AI contentStories, illustrations, and narration are generated by artificial intelligence (OpenAI, Stability AI, and Google Cloud TTS respectively). AI-generated content is produced algorithmically based on your inputs and may vary in quality, tone, or accuracy. We do not pre-screen every piece of generated content before it is displayed.
Content moderationAll story text is passed through OpenAI's Moderation API before delivery to detect and suppress inappropriate content. Image prompts include age-specific negative filters. Despite these safeguards, AI outputs may occasionally be imperfect. If you encounter content that seems inappropriate, please report it to support@makemytale.com.
No professional adviceAI-generated stories are fictional entertainment for children. They are not educational curricula, medical advice, legal advice, or any other form of professional guidance. Do not rely on story content for decisions of any kind.
Ownership of generated storiesStories and images generated through your use of the Service are provided to you for personal, non-commercial enjoyment. You may not reproduce, distribute, sell, or sublicense generated stories or images without our written permission.
Your story inputsBy selecting story parameters (characters, themes, moral lessons), you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process those inputs to generate your story. Your inputs do not include personally identifiable information and are not retained after generation.
10. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Attempt to generate content that is sexually explicit, violent, hateful, or otherwise harmful, especially involving minors.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract the source code of the app or its AI systems.
- Scrape, harvest, or systematically collect content or data from the Service using automated means.
- Circumvent any access controls, rate limits, or coin deduction mechanisms.
- Interfere with the security, integrity, or performance of the Service or its underlying infrastructure.
- Use the Service in a way that violates any applicable law or regulation.
- Impersonate another person or falsely represent your identity or affiliation.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to another user's account.
- Use the Service for any commercial purpose (e.g., reselling generated stories) without our express written consent.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these rules.
11. Intellectual Property
Our intellectual propertyThe MakeMyTale name, logo, design system, user interface, and all proprietary software are the intellectual property of Kostiantyn Kiianytsia and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other applicable laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of any intellectual property to you.
Licence to use the appSubject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use the MakeMyTale iOS application on Apple devices that you own or control, solely for personal, non-commercial use.
Third-party licencesThe Service incorporates third-party software libraries and services. Each such component is subject to its own licence. Use of Google Sign-In is subject to Google's Terms of Service; use of Apple StoreKit is subject to Apple's App Store Terms of Service.
FeedbackIf you submit feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Service, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free licence to use that feedback for any purpose, without obligation or compensation to you.
12. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components;
- AI-generated content will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose;
- Any defects will be corrected;
- The Service is free of viruses or other harmful code.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties. In such jurisdictions, the above exclusions apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.
13. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, MAKEMYTALE AND ITS DEVELOPER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING FROM:
- Your use of or inability to use the Service;
- Any AI-generated content produced by the Service;
- Unauthorised access to or alteration of your data;
- Any third-party conduct or content;
- Any failure or interruption of the Service.
IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $10.00.
Certain jurisdictions (including the EU and UK) do not permit the limitation or exclusion of liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Nothing in these Terms limits liability in such cases.
14. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless MakeMyTale and its developer from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- Your violation of these Terms;
- Your violation of any law or regulation;
- Your violation of any third-party right, including any intellectual property right;
- Any content or inputs you submit to the Service.
15. Termination
Termination by youYou may delete your account at any time by emailing support@makemytale.com with the subject "Delete My Account". On account deletion, your coin balance, stories, and all personal data are permanently deleted within 30 days (see our Privacy Policy). Active subscriptions must be cancelled separately through Apple.
Termination by usWe may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or for any other legitimate reason. On termination:
- Your licence to use the Service ends immediately.
- Your coin balance is forfeited without compensation.
- Purchased coins are non-refundable on termination for cause (subject to applicable law and Apple's refund policy).
Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including Sections 11 (Intellectual Property), 12 (Disclaimer), 13 (Limitation of Liability), 14 (Indemnification), and 16 (Governing Law) — will continue to apply after termination.
16. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
Governing lawThese Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. If you are located in the European Union, you also benefit from any mandatory consumer protection provisions of the laws of your country of residence.
Informal resolutionBefore filing any legal claim, you agree to contact us at legal@makemytale.com and attempt to resolve the dispute informally. We will work in good faith to resolve the issue within 30 days.
EU / UK users — online dispute resolutionIf you are an EU consumer, you may use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. If you are a UK consumer, you may use the UK's certified ADR schemes.
Apple — third party beneficiaryApple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms with respect to the iOS application. Upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will:
- Display an in-app notification the next time you open MakeMyTale, and
- Update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page.
Your continued use of the Service after updated Terms are posted constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service and may delete your account as described in Section 15.
For changes that materially affect the rights of children or parents, we will seek fresh parental consent where required by COPPA.
